Habitat — Privacy Policy
Last updated 21 August 2026 · Studio Six Two LLC
Habitat is a single-player animal-placement puzzle game. There is no sign-up, no password, and no advertising. This page explains exactly what the app stores, why, and how to delete it.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| A random account identifier | The first time you open Habitat it creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase. It is a random string — no email, no name, nothing you typed. It is what lets your progress survive reinstalling the app. |
| Your game progress | Expeditions completed, characters discovered, medals, daily puzzle results, streaks, and best scores. Stored on your device and copied to our database so it isn't lost. |
| Name and email — only if you choose to sign in | Signing in with Apple is entirely optional and exists so your progress follows you to a new device. Apple sends us whatever you approve on their screen; if you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only ever see the relay address. We never see your Apple password. |
| Anonymous usage analytics | Which screens you open, which puzzles are solved or abandoned, and basic device information (model, OS version, app version, language), via PostHog. We use it to find out which puzzles are too hard and which parts of the game people never reach. |
What we don't do
- We don't show ads and we don't work with ad networks.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites. Habitat does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and will never show you the tracking permission prompt.
- We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We don't ask for your contacts, photos, location, camera, or microphone.
Who else can see it
Two service providers process data on our behalf, and nobody else:
- Google Firebase — authentication and the database your progress is stored in. (Firebase privacy)
- PostHog — product analytics, hosted in the United States. (PostHog privacy)
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. That's the complete list.
Deleting your data
In the app, open the Profile tab and choose Delete account.
This permanently deletes your account, everything synced to it, and — if you signed in with Apple — revokes Habitat's access to your Apple ID, so the app disappears from your Apple account settings. It cannot be undone, and there is no grace period.
If you can't reach that screen for any reason, email support@studiosixtwo.com and we'll delete it for you.
How long we keep it
Progress is kept for as long as you use Habitat, so that it's there when you come back, and is destroyed when you delete your account. Analytics events are retained by PostHog for up to 12 months and are not linked to your name or email.
Children
Habitat is rated 4+ and is suitable for children. It contains no chat, no user-generated content, no purchases, and no advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the anonymous identifier and game progress described above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your information. Deletion is built into the app; for anything else, email us and we'll take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes we'll update this page and the date at the top. The current version always lives at this address.
